About The Collection

Halloween has become one of my favorite excuses to bring a camera to a party. Not because I want everyone lined up for perfect portraits, but because it's one of those nights where people get to be a little more creative, a little sillier, and a little more themselves.

After putting together my 2023 collection, I realized I'd made one funny mistake: I was so busy photographing everyone else that I was barely in any of the memories myself. So this year I made a conscious effort to hand the camera to friends every now and then. There are still far more photos of everyone else than of me—that's exactly how I like it—but I'm glad future me will have a few more reminders that I was there too.

Looking back through these photos, what stands out isn't any one costume. It's friends arriving, people laughing, someone decorating while someone else steals a snack, Zeus somehow ending up in a lion's mane, and all the little moments in between. That's why I love bringing a camera to Halloween.
